Back to Bloggin'
Writing is something I used to do a lot. There was a time where I blogged almost daily. I used it as an outlet to talk about something I love: video games. That blogging lead to doing a podcast/blog with some great folks over at the now-idle (perpetually) gameovernation.com. We made our last post there back in November of 2016, and I don’t think I’ve really written anything outside of long winded emails since then. I think it was one of those things where I had the itch to write but had no outlet. So, I would just get really wordy in emails for no particular reason. I feel like its effectiveness was hit or miss.
So what have I been doing for the last 3 years? The short answer is that I got really into brewing beer and I’ve been working toward opening my own brewery in my home town just outside of Houston. In the process, I ended up playing fewer and fewer games because I just haven’t had the time. However, now we’re at a point in the planning process where we have a little less to do while we pay other people to do their parts. It’s a really exciting time! I’ve found myself really wanting an outlet to talk about games again, especially since I’ve actually been playing more games. Borderlands 3 is recently out, and I’ve been playing through Control. I’ve been goofing around with some stuff on PC like Final Fantasy XIV and Rebel Galaxy Outlaw. We’re getting into a pretty crazy window of releases over the next few months.
I chose to go ahead and name this blog after my gamertag, AirstrikeRhino. It’s a name that also ties in nicely with the name of my brewery, Flying Rhino Brewing Company. The gamertag came first, and the name of the brewery was an evolution of that.
With that connection, you can bet I’ll be talking about beer quite a bit. Safe to assume that I’ll be talking about brewing the beer a lot as well. I’ll also use this space to make occasional updates on the progress of the brewery opening. We’re at a point where things should start getting really exciting soon.
Oh, and I’ll probably talk about sports some too. I like sports.
P.S. I also enjoy making just the worst photo edits (see the image accompanying this post for a good example). So, you know, you have that to look forward to.
